Teacher Ambassador Program

What is the Teacher Ambassador Program?

The Eternal Salute Teacher Ambassador Program, in conjunction with Honoring Veteran Legacies, is a program devoted to telling the stories of veterans in our communities. These teachers will be required to utilize Eternal Salute lesson plans in the classroom, write lesson plans to add to the Eternal Salute database, teach/present the Eternal Salute lesson plan database to your colleagues

(at school or in the district).

Who can be a Teacher Ambassador?

Any educator, active or retired, can apply to be a Teacher Ambassador. Teachers can be certified in any subject: history/social studies, English, science, math, or any elective subject (ex. health and physical education, foreign language, etc.).

What is the process for writing/creating lesson plans?

All Eternal Salute lesson plans include a video interview with the veteran(s) featured. Teacher Ambassadors will be given a video to watch. After watching the video, teachers will create a list of lesson plans that can be derived from that interview. Using a template, teachers will create/write their lesson plan for submission. The lesson plan should include all links used and activity handouts. Teachers will be paid a stipend of $50 for all lesson plans submitted.

What are other benefits for becoming a Teacher Ambassador?

 1. CEU’s will be issued for participation in the program.

2. Accumulating experience in curriculum development.

3. Networking opportunities.

4. Student access to essay competition. Prizes to be announced.

5. Yearly Eternal Salute workshop.

Teacher Testimonial

"I selected the lesson plan "I'll Never Forget" because I knew my 6th grade students would enjoy hearing the "Chick Magnet's" story. What I loved about the lesson plan is it was ready to go--everything was right there for easy implementation. My students loved Mr. Callander's story and had a great time coming up with lyrics to a song that depicted his time in the war. Some students took a different route and asked if they could draw a photo of Mr. Callander's life in the military. The lesson plan allowed me to make these spur of the moment changes. I will continue to use Eternal Salute and spread the word to my colleagues."
